Last night, the Spokesperson for the Ministry of Justice was with over 250 prison officers for a massive search operation at the Fleury-Mérogis detention center.
In Europe’s largest prison, nearly one hundred cells were searched in the middle of the night.
Supporting the prison staff, the ERIS (elite prison units) and EROS (special intervention units) were also present. The Spokesperson thanks the Paris Regional Prison Administration (DISP), equipped with new technological devices to more effectively detect cell phones.
Since the launch, 15 days ago, of these massive searches in all French prisons by the Minister of Justice, Gerald Darmanin, the results are in:
50 facilities searched, 1.700 cells searched and 3.300 inmates searched gives the seizures of 900 cell phones, 1.300 dangerous items and 7 kg of narcotics
Before December 31, 2025, all prisons in France will be subject to searches.
